Job Description


 Our client is hiring a Claims Advisor who will handle Property & Auto claims within their high-net worth portfolio in Vancouver, Edmonton or Calgary.


  • Investigate and negotiate high net worth auto and property claims in accordance with best practices and handling procedures

  • Responsible for the issuance of payments to vendors, customer and experts

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data captured in company systems

  • Analyze estimates, value of claims, negotiate, and settle claims accordingly

  • Interpret and apply high net worth personal policy coverage related to the loss

  • Communicate policy coverage and benefits to customers

  • Investigate and document cause of loss and quantum

  • Ability to work in a low volume phone queue environment as a first responder for policyholders and brokers


  • Review, comment on and approve vendor partner estimates for the cost of repairs or replacement of damaged or destroyed property

  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders involved in management of customer claims

  • Acquire and maintain appropriate provincial adjuster licenses and comply with continuing education requirements – where required

  • Determine when fieldwork is required and co-ordinate the field resource required as well manage the information coming from the tasks.

  • Ensure early identification and reaction to exposures, recovery opportunities during storm and disaster events

  • Clear understanding of financial elements of the property claims function to ensure
  • remain financially strong and deliver year on year improvement in our business performance

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data captured in company systems

  • Identify and report on any suspicions of fraud or financial irregularities in line with existing


  • internal and external requirements and procedures

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

CIP or FCIP Industry designation or other relevant professional insurance qualification

  • University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Property technical work experience

  • Minimum 3 years of previous first party personal auto and/or property claims handling

  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior high net worth/VIP or specialty market claims experience

  • Experience using Xactanalysis, Xactimate, Audatex, Edjuster, Guidewire Claim Center

  • Superior technical competence in Personal insurance

  • Basic property claims scoping and estimating understanding/knowledge

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong communication skills – ability to communicate diplomatically and empathetically and listen effectively

  • Computer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Ability to work overtime when required

  • Bilingualism (English French and Chinese if possible, would be an asset)
