Commercial Marketer / Underwriter - Mandarin and Cantonese

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Review quote requests and applications to determine risk acceptability, policy terms, and rates to process new business
• Review and process renewals, endorsements, and cancellations
• Place facultative reinsurance on risks that exceed the capacity
• Provide underwriting advice and answer inquiries from brokers
• Visit brokers to communicate underwriting approaches, facilitating public relations efforts, and solving problems
• Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, respond to emails and/or faxes as may be required
• Liaise with personal lines, claims, and accounting departments on mutual concerns
• Develop and maintain positive business partnerships with our Clients and Insurers
• Track and produce daily, weekly, and monthly production activity reports
• Also, do personal lines work
• Various other duties as required

Required Qualifications

• CIP/FCIP designation (or working towards) would be an asset
• Post-secondary education in a related field is required
• RIBO licensed
• Exposure to Epic would be an asset
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Proven knowledge of policy wordings and rating guidelines
• Insight into the current market and industry trends
• Attention to details to ensure quality for each transaction
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written; Mandarin and Cantonese would be an asset
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
